Dr. Ted Traylor came to be the pastor of Olive Baptist Church in November 1990. At his request, the church family prays that Malachi 2:6 will be a reality in his life. That verse is the outline of pastoral ministry at Olive Baptist Church.

Pastor Emeritus

On June 10, 2007 Dr. Jerry Passmore was named Pastor Emeritus for Olive Baptist Church. Dr. Passmore pastored Olive for 17 years from 1972 to 1989.

During Dr. Passmore’s tenure at Olive the church grew in many ways. With his heart for evangelism the church grew numerically and saw hundreds of people saved and baptized. Olive also grew through the purchase of land and by building a worship center (Passmore Hall), the West Wing educational complex, and the ROC and North Wing educational complex. He also challenged the church to be involved in missions in a greater way and he led the church to form a partnership in Brazil that is still going on today and has resulted in dozens of churches being started, built, and equipped for greater service.

After serving at Olive Dr. Passmore was on staff with the Florida Baptist Convention and served there until 2001 and is still presently a consultant with them. He has also been deeply involved in associational, state, and national convention work and has served on various committees and in many capacities including president of the Florida Baptist Convention. As a much sought after speaker Dr. Passmore continues to preach in many churches around our convention. Olive is proud to have him as our Pastor Emeritus and deeply appreciates his ministry.
