Dr. Ted Traylor came to be the pastor of Olive Baptist Church in November 1990. At his request, the church family prays that Malachi 2:6 will be a reality in his life. That verse is the outline of pastoral ministry at Olive Baptist Church.

True instruction was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found on his lips: he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many back from iniquity.– Malachi 2:6

The Pastoral Ministries office serves in a variety of areas. Our vision is to make disciples of Jesus Christ while sharing the Good News with people in our community and throughout the globe. Our mission is to make visits, offer prayer, comfort, and encouragement to those in need while lending godly counsel and support. We also offer different ministry training to those who need it.
Our Deacon Ministry provides a godly service of love and compassion to our church family and community in many capacities.
Our Widow Ministry offers compassionate support to those who are grieving while assisting them in coping with their loss. This ministry enables them to experience a close fellowship with other widows.
Here at Olive, our office serves as an extension center of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. We provide a learning environment to men and women from surrounding cities who study diligently toward obtaining a masters degree in Divinity. As each one desires to follow the calling of God, their study of the Bible is enhanced by learning Greek and Hebrew. This knowledge will enable them to more accurately understand and interpret God’s Word.
In June 2012, Dr. Stan Lewis became the Executive Pastor of Olive. Before assuming this position, he served as Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Birmingham, Alabama, for almost five years.
Stan and his wife, Kristin, are originally from Pensacola. They have three daughters. The Lewis family considers Olive their home church – Kristin grew up here and Stan became a member of Olive while attending college. They were married here and Stan was later ordained as a minister at Olive.
Prior to their move from Pensacola to Birmingham, Stan served for 12 years in various staff positions at Olive including Associate Pastor. Kristin also served on staff here for a period of time as a youth intern.
After graduating from the University of West Florida, Stan attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS) where he received his Masters of Divinity in Psychology and Counseling. Soon after he earned his Doctor of Ministry in Leadership also at NOBTS.
