New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary

Southern Baptists established the seminary in New Orleans in 1917 to train ministers and to reach the New Orleans area with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Originally located in the Garden District of New Orleans, it moved to 85 acres in the Gentilly area in 1953. Today it is one of the largest seminaries in the world and has nearly 4,000 students with almost 2,300 people living on campus. Nearly half of the students attend classes in its 22 extension centers which are located in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. Hurricane Katrina ravaged the school in 2005 but today, thanks to the prayers, cooperation and work of Southern Baptists, NOBTS is fully restored, fully functional, and fully committed to being a light in the city of New Orleans.

NOBTS is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, National Association of Schools of Music, and is authorized to operate in the State of Florida under Florida Statute 246.083.

Check to see if you are eligible to register by logging on to and checking the Registration page for the green "Ok to Register" indicator beside the registration terms. If there is a red indicator you may need to contact the appropriate NOBTS office to take care of any issues.
