Director of Preschool Ministries

In addition to meeting the qualifications and requirements detailed in this Position Description and as a condition of employment at Olive Baptist Church, for any and all positions of employment, each employee agrees to abide by the Policies and Procedures of Olive Baptist Church. Each employee is required and expected to be a member, in good standing, of Olive Baptist Church. The purpose of this specific position, within the defined documented scope of responsibilities contained in this Position Description, is to assist Olive Baptist Church toward its purpose of fulfilling its mission. This position, as does every position of employment at Olive Baptist Church, exists to support and carry out the mission of Olive Baptist Church.

Ministry Position Title: Director – Preschool Ministries

Reports to: Minister of Education

Oversees: Ministry Assistant, Volunteer Coordinator, Childcare Coordinator, Resouce Coordinator, Resource Assistant, Warrington Coordinator, Kid’s Day Out Coordinator, Intern

Department: Preschool Ministry, Education Department

Position Status: Exempt, FT

 

Ministry Purpose of this Position:  

To oversee ministries involving birth-PreK through a coordinated effort with paid and lay volunteers in order to securely teach kids to know God.

Summary of the Ministry Position:

The Preschool Director is responsible for the entire programming of the Preschool ministries. The Director is also responsible for staffing of the Preschool Ministries. The Preschool Ministry consists of Connection Groups, Preschool Worship, Mission Adventures, Kid’s Day Out and Special Events.

 

The role includes ongoing management and discipleship of 8 staff, 60 paid workers, security protocols, volunteer staffing and training, budget oversight, quality curriculum implementation, special event leadership, visitor follow-up, as well as basic programming.

Key Ministry Areas of Responsibility:

Preschool Administration:

• Develop, manage, and review the Preschool Ministry Budget across all ministry categories with accounting personnel on a monthly basis.

• Calendar ministry activities and oversee accuracy of entry into Espace.

• Continually evaluate staff, volunteers and classroom space for highest and most effective ministry use to manage growth.

• Provide clear, consistent communication with staff, resource providers, parents, and volunteers.

• Attend weekly, monthly, and quarterly departmental and all staff meetings.

• Maintain Background checks for all volunteers.

Sunday Morning Preschool Programming:

• Share goal and vision of the Preschool Ministry to parents and volunteers.

• Promote continued awareness of preschool service opportunities.

• Conduct preschool volunteer orientation.

• Oversee coordination of 150 volunteers each Sunday morning who minister to an average of 300preschoolers during the 8 am, 9:30 am, and 11 am hours at the Main Campus & Warrington Campus.

• Ensure preschool safety and security policies are enforced throughout all preschool classrooms, hallways and playgrounds.

• Oversee curriculum selection, preparation, distribution and implementation for each age group.

• Oversee recruitment, training and affirmation of preschool leadership, teachers and volunteers.

• Ensure weekly follow-up connections with visiting preschool families.

• Oversee recognition of birthdays and milestones of attending preschoolers and volunteers.

• Manage classroom needs and expansion.

• Oversee developmental and age graded promotion of children.

• Plan and implement annual promotion for all preschool ages and classrooms.

• Ensure all preschool classrooms are safely and adequately staffed.

Sunday Evening Preschool Impact & Childcare Programming:

• Work in conjunction with Impact Director on program, date and volunteer training schedule.

• Provide properly staffed classrooms for Sunday night Impact and childcare.

• Actively provide on-site supervision of program.

Vacation Bible School Preschool Programming for Main Campus & Warrington:

• Provide VBS classes for children ages 4 and under for children of adult volunteers serving in VBS.

• Oversee recruitment of 200 volunteers required to implement the weeklong program.

• Organize and present VBS preschool volunteer training.

• Ensure quality VBS program according to projected budget.

• Oversee design and installation of thematic VBS décor.

• Ensure safety and security of preschool participants.

Additional Ministry areas of responsibility:

• Oversee Warrington Campus Preschool Ministry.

• Support Olive’s Special Needs ministry.

• Plan and coordinate weekly & annual Preschool staff meetings/retreat.

• Oversee special preschool staffing, curriculum and activities for Easter and Christmas.

• Oversee Kid’s Day Out.

• Oversee New & Expecting Parent’s Ministry.

• Oversee Summer Fun Days.

• Provide childcare for special events.

• Support the Foster Care Ministry.

Work Hours/Schedule:

• 40+

• Exempt position - flexible

• Office – Monday thru Thursday, other days as the responsibility requires.

Education required and preferred:

• College degree required

• BA or BS degree in Children/Family ministries or similar is preferred

Experience required and preferred:

• Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) is required.

• Experience in managing numerous staff members in large church environment is preferred.

• Experience in recruiting, motivating, equipping and scheduling volunteer leaders to minister to preschoolers and their families is required.  

• Demonstrated ability to understand and relate to preschoolers and their families and a passion to see families grow in their faith together is required.

• 2 years’ experience in large church leadership and management is preferred (close to required!).

Previous experience in direction and administration of large church Preschool ministry is preferred

 

Skills required and preferred:

• Organized, self-motivated, efficient, and able to manage multiple urgencies.

• Strong administrative and organization skills are a must.

• Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of child development (physically, mentally, and spiritually).

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, Social Media, Excel, and Fellowship One.

• Heart for preschoolers and family ministry.

Characteristics required and preferred:

Godly character evident in all relationships.  Must be a model to preschool staff and volunteers in speech and conduct.  Worship Service and Connection Group participation is required.  Model of biblical stewardship with personal finances and time.

 

Special Needs Worker

I.              Basic Function:

Is responsible for providing a safe, healthy, and loving environment for students with special needs.

     

II.            Working Relationships:

a.     Reports to:  Director of Special Needs Ministry

b.     Works beside:  Children’s ministry staff and all OBC personnel

 

III.          Basic Responsibilities:

a.     Meet the spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, and social needs of special needs students

b.     Share biblical truths with special needs students

c.     Love and minister to parents of special needs students

IV.          Principle Accountabilities:

a.     Help provide and maintain a Christian environment in which the students may grow physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually

b.     Follow the policies and procedures of Olive Baptist Church

c.     Be polite, friendly, and courteous and seek to develop good trusting relationships with all students, parents, and volunteers

d.     Work according to the schedule outlined by the Minister to Children

V.            Desired Qualifications:

a.     Be a Christian, preferably Southern Baptist

b.     Be at least 18 years of age

c.     Demonstrate a loving spirit

d.     Be in good health, able to bend, stoop and physically able to take care of students

Full-time Electrician with a Journeyman's License.

Needs to perform a variety of installation, troubleshooting and repair tasks on electrical systems.

The duties and responsibilities may vary depending on the scope of the role, but they often include:

  • Understanding and applying blueprints and technical diagrams

  • Using various devices, including ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners and cable testers, as well as hand and power tools

  • Installing or replacing wiring, lighting, electrical controls, breakers and other electrical devices

  • Inspecting and maintaining electrical systems in the buildings.

  • Adhering to state and local building regulations. 

  • Completing work orders on time

  • Documenting the work completed and materials used

  • Work with other electricians, general contractors, engineers, architects and other team members.

Music Faculty - Music Studios at Olive

Part Time: 5-18 hours per week

Principle Function:

Provide high-quality music instruction to students in the Music Studios at Olive

Principle Accountabilities

  • Teach weekly lessons to assigned students

  • Communicate with students and families of students regarding progress, needed materials, and

    upcoming events

  • Attend end-of-semester recitals

Desired Qualifications

The candidate should have a degree in the field of music. Teaching experience is desired but not required. Teachers are encouraged to obtain membership in appropriate music teachers associations.

Essential Competencies

  • Strong understanding of pedagogy for their instrument

  • Strong performing skills on their instrument

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work with a wide age-range of individuals

Part-Time

Preschool Childcare Worker

Part-Time | 20 hr.

Principle Functions:

●               Provide a safe, healthy, and loving environment for preschoolers

●               Educate preschoolers through the teaching of Bible truths 

●               Reach preschoolers and their families for Christ and the church 

●               Involve the church family in laying a Christian foundation for preschoolers

Principle Accountabilities:

●               Help provide and maintain a Christian environment in which the children may grow physically, emotionally, mentally, socially and spiritually

●               Follow the policies and procedures of Olive Baptist Church

●               Provide age-appropriate care which includes: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, activities and Bible stories

●               Be polite, friendly, and courteous and seek to develop good trusting relationships with all children, parents, and volunteers

●               Work according to the schedule outlined by the Childcare Coordinator

●               Plan teaching activities for children as instructed by the Childcare Coordinator

●               Maintain a clean and orderly classroom at all times

Early Learning Center Teaching Assistant 2 Year Olds

FULL-TIME

Ministry Village Early Learning Center is looking for people to join our endeavor to improve early childhood education in Escambia County. The Ministry Village ELC opened in Pensacola in November 2018 and has steadily grown. We are hiring teachers, assistants and substitutes on an ongoing basis. This position would assist the teacher in the 2 Year Old room on a full-time basis.

Our goal first is to instill Godly character into each child who attends our school. We will be using the Creative Curriculum and run our classrooms in play-based centers.

Our facility serves children 3 months to 4 years old. If you love working with children and are enthusiastic about early education, we would like you to consider joining our team as a teacher assistant in our toddler classrooms.

This position is needed to provide care Monday-Friday.
