Special Needs

With open hearts and a Christ-centered approach, we aim to break down barriers, foster meaningful connections, and empower families to navigate the unique journey of raising individuals with special needs.

‍

Our classes and activities are designed to cultivate a student’s desire for a Savior, develop their faith, and become disciples of Jesus.

We offer Christ-centered care for individuals with special needs during both the 9:30 and 11:00am Sunday worship services as well as Wednesdays from 6:00–7:30pm.

‍

The age for the classrooms are Preschool-Highschool.

‍

Support is provided in sensory and teaching classrooms or integrated into age-appropriate ministries, depending on each individual’s needs.

We host various special respite events designed to engage individuals with disabilities in fun, meaningful activities, while giving their families a much-needed break.

These events are open to the community and not limited to Olive Baptist Church members. Everyone is welcome.

How can we get started?

‍

All new and returning families are asked to complete a registration form. Once submitted, a member of our team will reach out to schedule an intake meeting. During this time, we’ll get to know your child, answer your questions, and talk through the next steps for getting connected.

‍

What ages do you offer support for?

‍

We provide a range of supports for children—from preschool to high school—tailored to each individual’s needs. Our goal is to ensure every child can participate meaningfully and feel valued at their level of ability and understanding.

Does my child need to stay in the Special Needs area, or can they join their age-appropriate ministry?

‍

We tailor support based on each child’s unique needs. Depending on what’s best for them, your child may:

‍

Participate in their age-appropriate ministry with leaders who are aware and equipped to support them

Be paired with a Special Needs Ministry buddy who joins them in their age-level environment

Spend time in our sensory and teaching classrooms designed for engagement, learning, and fun
